Rube Goldberg assignment

1. I haven't done much in this project except planning and constructing a base to put my contraption on. Due to me having to work at home because of certain components not allowed in school, my project has been drastically delayed.I have it planned to be completely finished at the dead line of the next school day.

2. My project is an automatic fish feeder. The requirements that aren't allowed in school are my fish, a candle, a possible razor blade and an air-soft gun that is used to start the events to feed the fish. So far i have a solid rough draft sketch and a base and some supplies. The construction is delayed due to finding the time in order to cut some wood for the project.

3. i think this project is a great learning experience for the use of simple machines and the early learning of physics. It some how gives the student an understanding of weight distribution, force and ect...

• Audiokinetic Sculpture: It was hard to follow and draw like the work sheet asked but it was fairly creative and cool to watch.

• bobsled: the bobsleds were fun to make ..kind of.. and it was cool to see what would work and what wouldnt 
• 
• fantastic forces. the pencil gun was cool but the lady was weird
• 
• Lightening show: it was cool but not that exciting, clearly made for smaller kids. kind of boring

Trends in the Periodic Table

Periodic Law: when elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number, there is a periodic pattern in their physical and chemical properties.

The vertical columns are called families or groups
the horizontal rows are called periods.

the first group are alkali metals, the second group is alkaline earth metals.

atomic radius decreases as it moves to the right

metallic properties also decrease the farther right you go

the last two groups are halogens and noble gasses

the most reactive metals [to water] are in the first group

Flame Test Lab

 1.An errors that could be involved in this experiment is misreading the name on the plate of metals.

3. You need more than one property.

4. the colors in the flames is being produced by electrons moving(energy)

5.S,Cn, Mn, Li, C, K

6. i think the metal has to be heated to make a colored flame because it needs the energy from the flame to move the electrons.
